A Grand Enterance

I think it's possible I crashed on the plane to San Francisco and have somehow ended up in heaven. No joke, this place is dreamy and surreal. I can't believe I get to spend 3 months here. What's even better is I usually have so much anxiety about venturing out into new surroundings or being around people I don't know. I can tell you though that my usual case of the shakes and nerves has yet to appear. I think I'm meant to be here. This is my place, my people and I just feel comfortable.

So, I of course had to get a picture of myself entering the farm:

And my brother came totally prepared. As I hopped back in the car he tells me "Wait! Wait!" And starts playing with his ipod. This was the result....our drive up to the farm, mood music and all:

Once I got all settled in I went for a hike up some of the surrounding hills with one of the other new interns. The scenery is unbelievable. This was looking out at the other side of the farm. The weather today was amazing.

Tomorrow training starts at 8:30am where we will learn what exactly we will be doing for the next 3 months and will get to meet some of the animals! I can't wait! Tonight we are going to play some cards and watch a movie! There are only two other interns in the house with me this month. They seem really nice and I'm excited to get to know them better :)

Welcome!

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to kick off this blog. I will be updating daily, documenting this amazing experience! Thanks for following! And thank you to all who have been so supportive and made it possible for me to even embark on this amazing adventure!

A little bit about me and why I'm doing this internship. I'm 26, and still trying to figure out what it is I want to do when I grow up. I have a degree in Marketing, though I've never been passionate about the subject. I've been vegetarian for 3 years and vegan for a little over 2 years now. Farm Sanctuary was the first place I started donating and adopting animals from. I love all the work they do and I so wanted to be a part of it in some way. Which is why I'm so excited for this internship to begin. I hope to learn as much as I can and then be able to apply it to my animal rights activism as well as learn how to make a career out of caring for animals.

I'm flying out of Wisconsin on the 29th and will be staying in San Francisco with my brother for a couple days. Then he will drive me to Orland, California where I'll begin my internship! Keep your eyes peeled for the first post on the 31st :)
